When I was a kid, I distinctly remember selling lemonade to passersby near one of my childhood homes. My little sister and I would set up shop on the corner by our home, which was near a relatively busy road. We would then come up with a grand scheme about how we would make SO MUCH MONEY and would then buy super awesome toy with our profits. It never really worked out that way, but it was always fun.

Yesterday, I was sent out to photograph some entrepreneurial children, who were consequently selling lemonade at their grandmother’s house.

The following photos are my favorites.

Alternate title: Staying as cool as one can get in this summer heat.

Earlier this week, I was sent out to a local water park.

The follow are some of my favorite images. More can be found at the Hattiesburg American Web site here.

Happy Saturday, y’all!

Summertime is…

June 26, 2009

Since a lot of the images I have taken this week have not run yet, I wanted to share a multimedia project I created a while back.

The subject? Snow cones.

Enjoy!

(And if you want to check it out on the HA Web site, you can find it here.)

I post this for two reasons:

1. To show my family that I have FINALLY gotten the ratty sticker off the back of my car and replaced it with something a little nicer.

2. Because the Tigers won the National Championship last night!

Geaux Tigers!

A busy weekend

June 21, 2009

I worked this weekend, and like any other, it was busy, busy, busy.

Friday night, I was called out to a HUGE house fire. (True story: I could see the smoke from my apartment.)

Saturday morning, I attended the Juneteenth festival and celebration at a local park.

And Saturday afternoon, I hiked it over to the local skate park to photograph its first competition.

And today? Well, I shot baseball and weather art today.

All in all, a good, productive and HOT weekend.

Welcome home, team!

(Also, isn’t the look on that kid’s face PRICELESS?)

This past week was fast-paced and full of excitement.

It started with lions, panthers, man children, oh my!

And then some baseball players left for the College World Series. Of course, they had to get in on some of the interviews (and perform some of their own, as showcased in the photo gallery) before leaving town.

While it was a busy week, it was definitely a good one.

How was yours?
